Lowering Rx Drug Costs

July 11, 2019

I believe leadership means putting the needs of the people you serve above yourself and above your party. Too often, leaders in Washington choose to play political games rather than pass meaningful legislation.

We saw a good example earlier this month, when House leadership passed up a chance to make real progress to address rising prescription drug prices and chose to score cheap political points instead. I led a group of members from both parties to call out House leadership for their inability to take bipartisan action on prescription drugs. Watch here:

Any progress to lower prescription drug costs is good, but more and more Mainers – particularly seniors – face unaffordable prices for medications they need to live normal lives. We should focus on bold action that will meaningfully drive down prescription drug costs, not tweak around the edges. That’s why I proposed the FLAT Prices Act. The legislation punishes big pharma companies that spike their drug prices on consumers. I introduced the bill earlier this year, and I’ll keep pushing to pass it through the House.

I’m always looking for opportunities to hear from folks in the Second District about how I can stand up for them in Congress. Please feel free to stop by one of our offices to meet me and my staff and let us know if there is any way we can serve you. You can find them here:
