$3 Million for Maine Veterans’ Homes Secured by Collins and Golden in Funding Bill
Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Susan Collins and Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced that they secured $3 million for renovations and upgrades at Maine Veterans’ Homes (MVH) in the Fiscal Year 2023 Health & Human Services appropriations bill.
The omnibus funding package passed the Senate by a vote of 68-29 and passed the House today by a vote of 225-201-1. It will now head to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
“Maine Veterans’ Homes provides compassionate, quality long-term care to the brave men and women who served our country,” said Senator Collins and Congressman Golden. “At a time when there is already a severe shortage of nursing home beds, MVH’s facilities in rural parts of our state fill a critical need and allow Maine veterans to remain close to their loved ones. These investments will help MVH perform necessary maintenance and upgrades to ensure that these homes remain safe for residents.”
The funding will support needed renovations and life-safety upgrades at Maine Veterans Homes, such as HVAC improvements, sewer pipe installation, and fire alarm system replacements.
