WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) released the following statement on congressional leadership’s proposed continuing resolution.

“I will support the bipartisan effort to keep the government open while Congress finalizes a year-long budget. I am encouraged that both sides have agreed to stick to the topline numbers negotiated last year, and am especially heartened by deficit-reducing provisions in the new agreement, which will help fight inflation. With the additional time this bill would provide, I am optimistic we can come together to get the job done and pass a yearlong budget.”

Absent an extension, a partial government shutdown would begin Friday, and funding for all agencies would expire February 2. This bill would move these deadlines to March 1 and 8, respectively.
