Golden Delivers Over $500,000 for Dixfield Wastewater Treatment

December 23, 2022

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced today that he has secured $514,400 as part of the 2023 appropriations government funding package for the Town of Dixfield. The funding, which passed the Senate yesterday and is expected to head to the president’s desk for his signature this week, will be used to upgrade the only wastewater pumping station in the area, which is currently experiencing severe age-related deterioration issues that could result in increased sewage treatment costs for residents and businesses in the area if unaddressed.

“After decades of serving the water and waste treatment needs of its communities, the Hall Hill Pump Station is in need of critical repairs and upgrades,” said Golden. “I’m proud to secure this funding to get these improvements underway and reduce the cost burden on local families and businesses. This funding will go a long way towards ensuring that Dixfield residents can continue to count on strong, reliable infrastructure.”

“I’m grateful to Rep. Golden for helping Dixfield keep its waste water infrastructure in operation with this federal investment,” said Dixfield Town Manager Alicia Conn. “The funds for the Hall Hill Pump Station that Rep. Golden's bringing back to Dixfield will have a positive impact on the community. Thank you, Rep. Golden!”

Dixfield’s current wastewater treatment infrastructure, designed for a lifespan of 25 years, is now over 40 years old. The request on behalf of the town of Dixfield was one of the congressman’sCommunity Project Funding requests. Congressman Golden was the only member of the delegation whose request for funding was included in the year-end omnibus spending bill.

Golden met with local leaders and toured the sewer pump in June.

Dixfield’s wastewater pumping station is experiencing severe age-related problems including leakages and nonfunctional equipment and is in need of urgent repairs and upgrades. The congressman’s funding will help fund the necessary upgrades to the system that will help keep wastewater treatment costs low for the residents and businesses of Dixfield.
