Golden Joins Local Law Enforcement Leaders and Veterans at Operation Reboot Outdoors in Byron
BYRON— Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) was in Byron yesterday to tour the site of Operation Reboot Outdoors, a camp dedicated to giving veterans the opportunity to get into nature. The congressman was joined for the tour by camp founders Dan and Nicole Waite, Oxford County Sheriff Chris Wainwright, and Androscoggin County Deputy Attorney General Neil McLain. Following the tour, the group discussed opportunities to expand the group's operations, including building an ADA-compliant cabin and facilities on the site.
“I know firsthand how important it is to have a support system when veterans return to civilian life,” said Golden. “The work being done at Operation Reboot Outdoors offers a safe, healing environment for veterans making the transition back to life at home. It was great to hear from the Waites about the program and from some of our veteran leaders on the ground in Oxford county about ways our office can help them support veterans during their adjustment period.”
Operation Reboot Outdoors is an organization that provides local veterans, regardless of ability, with the opportunity to reset in nature through hunting, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities.
