Golden Joins Sportsman's Alliance of Maine for Family Day, Announces Vice-Chairmanship of Bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus

January 25, 2023

AUGUSTA — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) joined hunters, sportsmen and their families last weekend for the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM) Family Fun Day at SAM’s Outdoor Education Center. The Congressman announced his new role as Vice Chair of the Bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus.

“It was great to join SAM members and their families for their family day,” said Golden. “I’ve been proud to work alongside David Trahan and the SAM board these past four years. As Vice Chair of the Bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, I’m looking forward to continuing to work with SAM to protect Maine’s outdoors and our time-honored sportsmen traditions.”

The Bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus is a bicameral caucus advocating on wildlife conservation and the long-standing hunting and sporting interests of the 55 million sportsmen and women in the United States.

“As Executive Director of the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine (SAM), I have worked closely with Congressman Golden to identify firearm policies that will protect the Second Amendment, improve gun safety, and get more Mainers outdoors to enjoy all our state has to offer,” said David Trahan, Executive Director, Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine. “He has been a consistent and thoughtful advocate for all sportsmen in Maine and his new leadership role on the Bipartisan Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus is well-deserved. I’m confident Congressman Golden will use this new position to work across the aisle and get even more done for sportsmen and hunters in Maine.”

Since his election to Congress, Golden has been a champion for gun safety legislation that will help make our communities safer and keep constitutional rights intact. Last summer, Golden worked with the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM) and his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure that the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act took a balanced approach that supports the common-sense measures already underway in Maine. In 2021, Golden introduced SAM-supported bipartisan legislation to provide millions of gun safety kits to Americans across the country and educate millions more on the importance of gun storage and safety.
