Golden Nominates 12 Mainers for Service Academies
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) has announced his office's nominees to the United States Service Academies—the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress.
"This group represents some of Maine's most talented, skilled and accomplished students. They have all demonstrated great leadership, high academic standards, and most importantly, a desire to serve," said Golden. "These nominees should be proud of all they've accomplished. I would be honored to have these talented candidates represent the Second District, and it's my privilege to nominate them."
Nominees were interviewed by a panel of five about their academic record, test scores, leadership ability, involvement in extracurricular activities and commitment to serving their country.
