Golden Stands with Maine Workers for Fair Contracts

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) today backed two efforts by Maine workers to strike for a fair contract.

United Steel Workers Local 9 has authorized a strike at Sappi North America's mill in Skowhegan. International Alliance of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 447 workers are striking against Cummins in Scarborough, Dedham, MA, and Concord, NH.

"I support the men and women of USW Local 9 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1768 in Skowhegan, who are standing together to bargain for a fair contract. These workers and their families are already dealing with inflation, and they shouldn't have to deal with unreasonable increases in healthcare premiums in their new contract.

"I also stand in solidarity with the workers at IAMAW Local 447, who are already on strike for a fair contract. These skilled professionals deserve to have their voices heard, and I hope that Cummins management will soon get back to the bargaining table to find a fair deal." - Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02)
