WASHINGTON — After a weeks-long campaign to press House leadership to split apart consideration of the bipartisan infrastructure bill from the passage of a $3.5 trillion reconciliation package, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) and a group of eight of his House colleagues secured an agreement that successfully prevents the two bills from being tied together and sets a firm date for a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) and Congressman David Cicilline (RI-01) introduced legislation today to ban former members of Congress from ever working as federal lobbyists. Under current law, lawmakers can begin lobbying activities just 1-2 years after leaving office, working to influence the institution in which they once served for corporations and special interest groups.

WASHINGTON — In the House Armed Forces Readiness Subcommittee markup of the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) secured a provision yesterday that would direct the Department of Defense to conduct a pilot program for the use of mass timber products in military construction.

WASHINGTON — After months of advocacy, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) successfully worked to defeat an amendment backed by the pharmaceutical lobby that would have jeopardized hundreds of good-paying Maine jobs. The failure of the amendment means the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will continue to require prescription drug medications to include a paper insert with drug information rather than requiring the information to be distributed electronically. Twin Rivers Paper in Madawaska is the leading manufacturer of the paper inserts and employs over 500 people.

PFAS Action Act contains Golden provision to help protect firefighters from PFAS on the job

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted today to pass the PFAS Action Act, bipartisan legislation that would help to remove dangerous "forever chemicals," or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from drinking water, end the production of the chemicals, and increase federal funding to remove contamination.
