"Every American should be treated equally before the law, regardless of race, gender, economic status, or any other factor. Our country needs to reckon with the racism and inequality which have persisted for far too long. And there must be accountability for gross negligence in the use of force by a law enforcement officer like what took place in Minneapolis with the killing of George Floyd.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted to pass H.R. 1, the For the People Act, through the House today. The bill, which Golden also co-sponsored, is the most comprehensive democracy reform legislation in a generation.

WASHINGTON — Congressmen Jared Golden (ME-02) and Andy Levin (MI-09) led 110 of their colleagues in a letter to House leadership this week calling for the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to be brought directly to the House floor for a vote.

The PRO Act, the most comprehensive pro-labor legislation in decades, provides updated protections for workers and unions, gives them more power to negotiate with employers, and imposes more meaningful penalties on employers who violate the law.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), an original cosponsor of the Equality Act, voted today to pass the bipartisan legislation through the House of Representatives. The Equality Act extends anti-discrimination protections not just in the workplace, but in every place – in employment, education, access to credit, jury service, federal funding, housing and public accommodations.

WASHINGTON – The For Country Caucus, a non-partisan group of military veterans serving in Congress and dedicated to working together in a nonpartisan way to create a more productive government, announced new leadership and a growing caucus membership for the 117th Congress.

Congressmen Jared Golden (D-ME-02) and Van Taylor (R-TX-03) will lead the caucus as co-chairs through 2022 as its ranks swell to 25 members. Congressmen Jim Baird (R-IN-04) and Salud Carbajal (D-CA-24) will serve as vice-chairs.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) has been named a Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee. As Vice Chair, Golden takes on an elevated role on the subcommittee, which oversees naval acquisition and contracts for military shipbuilding performed at Bath Iron Works, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and other shipyards across the country.
