WASHINGTON — A group of 76 members of Congress, led by Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), urged House leadership today to bring the bipartisan Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act) to the House floor for a vote. The PRO Act would expand labor unions' negotiating power, provide new protections for unions and workers, and stiffen penalties for companies that violate workers' rights.

WASHINGTON — To protect the interests of working Mainers in the Second District, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted yesterday against repealing a cap on the federal tax deduction for state and local taxes paid. The bill's elimination of the cap on the state and local taxes (SALT) deduction would have disproportionately wealthy states like California and New York, costing the government billions in funding that could instead benefit working Mainers.
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) stood up for Maine workers today, voting against the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). Golden pointed to a number of critical shortcomings in the trade deal, including inadequate country of origin labeling laws, insufficient environmental protections, and most importantly, that it will fail to stop the outsourcing of American jobs or bring back those that were lost because of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) has announced his office's nominees to the United States Service Academies—the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress.
WASHINGTON — The House passed legislation today cosponsored by Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) to address rising prescription drug costs. H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, would limit out-of-pocket prescription drug costs paid by seniors, fund the expansion of Medicare coverage to include dental, vision, and hearing, and lower prescription drug prices for thousands of Mainers.
