WASHINGTON — Following an October 16th letter from Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) concerning a lack of transparency and opportunity for public input for Central Maine Power Company's New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) project, the USACE has announced a public hearing to be held on December 5th in Lewiston.

Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) released a statement today in advance of Thursday's vote on H. Res. 660, which establishes the procedures for the public phase of the House impeachment inquiry:

The bill, introduced with Republican Congressman Don Young (AK-At Large), will now head to the House floor.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden's (ME-02) bipartisan legislation to build connections between seniors and young people passed the House of Representatives this week. The bill expands an important grant program that provides funds to states and community organizations to build bonds between young people and seniors. The grants would, for example, support programs that offer seniors the chance to mentor young people, help seniors to volunteer for organizations that work with kids, and encourage partnerships between day care centers and senior care centers.

Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) spent a busy weekend in Washington and Penobscot Counties, making stops in Baileyville, Jonesport, Machias and Pembroke to tour mills, celebrate Maine's Forest Products Industry Week, meet with constituents, and celebrate the more than 2,000 people who gained access to high-speed broadband in Baileyville and Calais.

WASHINGTON — With Maine's over-65 population expected to exceed its under-19 population next year, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) introduced new legislation, the Multigenerational Engagement Act, this week that would expand opportunities for seniors to connect with young people. The bipartisan bill, which Golden introduced with Republican Congressman Ron Wright (TX-06), makes federal resources available to states, Area Agencies on Aging, and community organizations such as YMCAs to provide programs that facilitate engagement across generations.

WASHINGTON — To defend American elections from foreign money and influence, put a stop to the spreading of campaign disinformation, and prevent interference with voter registration, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) helped pass the SHIELD Act through the House today. Golden is a cosponsor of the bill.
