WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) helped pass historic legislation that would gradually increase paychecks for thousands of workers across the state. The legislation is projected to raise the wages of more than a third of workers in Maine's Second District, grow the economy, and help working families get ahead. The measure will also level the field for Maine businesses as they currently compete against businesses with lower state minimum wages.
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted today to pass legislation that would protect workers' health care benefits from additional taxes. The House passed the Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act — a bill cosponsored by Golden — which would permanently repeal the Affordable Care Act's ‘Cadillac Tax.' The Cadillac Tax is a 40% excise tax on certain employer-sponsored health insurance plans, a tax likely to be passed on to workers in the form of higher insurance premiums or the loss of quality health benefits.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) today. The bill includes a number of important measures pushed for by Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) to support Maine's shipbuilders, servicemembers, universities, and manufacturers. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Golden helped secure authorization in the FY 2020 NDAA for the construction of three DDG-51 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, at least one of which will be built at Bath Iron Works.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME), and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01) sent an urgent message to the president today asking him to intervene in the implementation of new regulations on Maine lobstermen. In their letter, the Maine delegation contends that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is pushing forward with its rulemaking process despite the fact that the regulations are likely to have serious consequences on the livelihoods of lobstermen and lobstering communities.
LEWISTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) held three roundtables, a town hall, and two coffee hours over a busy July district work period last week. Golden has made it a priority to hear directly from the Mainers he represents, visiting more than 50 towns and cities in the Second District during his first six months in office.
EAST MILLINOCKET— Dozens of Mainers joined Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) at the Katahdin Higher Education Center in East Millinocket for a town hall on Monday night. At the town hall, Golden and his constituents discussed a range of ideas and proposals to grow the economy and create good jobs in rural Maine as well as the environment in Washington that is holding back progress on these issues.
