WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) took action today to ensure rural patients have dependable access to information about their medications and to protect jobs in Aroostook County. Golden led a bipartisan group of 19 members calling on House appropriators to include specific language in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) appropriations bill. The language would prevent the FDA from moving forward with a plan to distribute important prescription drug information electronically rather than in printed form via paper inserts.

LEWISTON, ME – Following the release of a report from the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition showing concerning rates of lead poisoning screening in the state, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) called on Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson today to take long-overdue action to protect Maine children from lead poisoning. For decades, the federal government has failed to address the public health crisis posed by lead, leaving thousands of Mainers to suffer from lead poisoning and placing a significant burden on services in many Maine communities with older housing stock.

The members of Congress, led by Golden, wrote to the IRS urging agency leadership to reject the move and provide answers on how IRS will meet the needs of rural Mainers.

WASHINGTON — Senator Angus King (I-ME) and Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) introduced bipartisan, bicameral legislation today to level the playing field for the logging trade with other agricultural fields, ready young Mainers for good jobs in the forest products industry, and support Maine's family logging businesses. The Future Loggers Careers Act allows 16- and 17-year-olds to learn the logging trade under parental supervision so that they may carry on and contribute to the family business.
