WASHINGTON -- Today, Congressman Jared Golden of Lewiston became U.S. Representative for the second district of Maine upon taking the oath of office as the 116th session of Congress gets underway.
"I am honored to work for the people of Maine in Congress," said Congressman Golden. "I've always worked to put people first, whether it's in the Marines or in the State House. I'll do the same in Congress, working to find common ground and get results for our state. The people of Maine know what works for them, so it's my job to listen and get the job done. Let's get to work."
WASHINGTON -- Today, Congressman Jared Golden voted for a bipartisan package of legislation that would reopen the government after a nearly two week shutdown. The bills, nearly identical to legislation passed overwhelmingly by the Senate last month, maintain funding levels for six federal agencies through September 30, 2019, and provide funding for the Department of Homeland Security through February 8th.
