WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted to pass bipartisan legislation yesterday to improve service and reliability at the United States Postal Service. The Postal Service Reform Act of 2021 is estimated to save the USPS $27 billion over ten years, improve delivery times by requiring the Postal Service to deliver at least six days per week, and make a series of other reforms designed to improve delivery time and reliability.

The Patients' Right to Know Their Medication Act of 2022 would require drug manufacturers to include printed inserts containing drug information when they ship their products to pharmacies.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted today to pass H.R. 4673, the Ensuring Veterans' Smooth Transition Act (EVEST) Act, through the U.S. House of Representatives. This bipartisan bill would automatically enroll eligible veterans for health care through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) following the end of their military service. Veterans who sustained a qualifying injury during or as a result of their service qualify for care through the VA.

WASHINGTON — In response to a serious and sustained shortage of school bus drivers across Maine, the state's congressional delegation is pushing the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to take steps to safely address the urgent need for additional drivers. The lawmakers, in a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, called for the agency to delay or temporarily waive certain training and certification requirements that could keep prospective bus drivers from quickly filling open jobs.

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), along with Representatives Tom Rice (SC-07), Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), and Jaime Herrera-Beutler (WA-03), announced the introduction of the bipartisan COPS on the Beat Grant Program Reauthorization and Parity Act of 2021. The legislation would nearly triple available funding for the COPS grant program to over $1 billion in FY2022, reauthorize the program for ten years, and specifically expand access to the grants for rural communities.
