WASHINGTON — With negotiations on a large social program bill currently underway in Congress, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) wrote to key policymakers today on behalf of the seniors in his district who rely on Medicare. The congressman urged the committee chairmen to address glaring problems with proposed dental coverage in the Medicare program — such as waiting seven years to offer seniors the dental coverage — and to remove the program from the bill if the problems cannot be solved.

WASHINGTON — To fight corruption and help restore faith in government, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced the reintroduction of the Stop Foreign Payoffs Act today. The Stop Foreign Payoffs Act would bar high-ranking public officials — members of Congress, presidents, vice presidents, and cabinet secretaries, as well as their close families — from earning a salary from or holding an investment in a foreign business as long as the official is in office.

FAYETTE — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) hosted U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh in Fayette and Augusta Tuesday to learn firsthand from Maine loggers and discuss opportunities and challenges facing the logging workforce. The congressman convened a roundtable between Secretary Walsh and members of the Professional Logging Contractors (PLC) of Maine, to discuss issues including logger recruitment efforts, worker classification issues, and the importance of job training and workforce development for the industry.
