WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted today in favor of an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump for his role in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol last week. The measure passed on a bipartisan vote of 232-197.

Golden released the following statement after his vote:

"Today, I voted to impeach the President of the United States for the incitement of insurrection, an act which clearly meets the threshold of ‘high crime and misdemeanor' set forth by the Framers. I was joined by 231 of my colleagues, including 10 Republicans.

WASHINGTON — After a mob of violent insurrectionists assaulted the U.S. Capitol Wednesday, Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced his support for an article of impeachment against the President of the United States today for his role in the deadly attack. The article of impeachment, introduced by Congressman David Cicilline (RI-01), would impeach the president for inciting insurrection. It will be brought to the House floor for a vote later this week.

Senator Collins and Congressman Golden introduced and Senator Angus King (I-ME) and Congresswoman Pingree (ME-01) co-sponsored logger relief legislation earlier this year, and Senator Collins championed the funding in the final agreement.

WASHINGTON — The House and Senate both passed a bipartisan bill this week to help prepare young Americans for careers in fishing. The Young Fishermen's Development Act, legislation Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME) and Representatives Chellie Pingree (ME-01) and Jared Golden (ME-02) helped introduce last year, would provide federal grant funding for training and education on seamanship, navigation, vessel and engine care, and other essential topics to give aspiring fishermen the tools they need to enter the fishing industry.

Washington, D.C. — Following unanimous passage by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, the State Veterans Homes Domiciliary Care Flexibility Act will be sent to the President to be signed into law. The legislation was ultimately passed as part of a broad veteran benefits improvements package, the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02), Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME), and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01) today urged the U.S. Department of Commerce to reject a petition for emergency interim fishery regulations regarding the North Atlantic right whale. The petition, submitted by a number of out-of-state interest groups, would bypass the established regulatory process and could set a dangerous precedent that could needlessly close lobster fisheries throughout New England.
