WASHINGTON — To help protect Maine loggers and logging businesses, today Representative Jared Golden (ME-02), Representative Chellie Pingree (ME-01), and Representative David Rouzer (NC-07) led a group of 15 bipartisan members of Congress to call on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue to immediately amend the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) and include loggers in coronavirus relief as "agricultural producers."

In the past, loggers have been considered eligible for certain USDA grants under the same designation.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced today his cosponsorship of a resolution that would effectively halt an Executive Order that temporarily deferred the collection of payroll taxes. Since payroll taxes help fund Social Security, the order could also do lasting damage to the Social Security system.

Maine Fraternal Order of Police: "The Protect and Serve Act… is exactly what's needed by today's law enforcement officers."

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) announced today his cosponsorship of H.R. 1325, the Protect and Serve Act. The legislation would help address the dangerous trend of armed attacks on police officers by creating federal penalties for individuals who deliberately target local, state, or federal law enforcement officers with violence.
