After the minority leader, California's Kevin McCarthy, blasted the measure as something "the Democrat socialist majority" wants "to take more of your money and give it to the politicians," Golden fired back.
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) voted for a comprehensive package of reforms today designed to strengthen our democracy by removing big money from politics, helping more Americans exercise their right to vote, and ensuring government officials act in the public interest. WASHINGTON, D.C. — A package of more than 100 federal lands bills that the U.S. House of Representatives passed last week includes the Acadia National Park Boundary Clarification Act.
The Senate had passed the omnibus lands bill earlier last month. So, now all that is needed for it to become law is the president's signature.
The Acadia portion of the 260-page bill validates the National Park Service's 2015 expansion of the park's boundary to include 1,441 acres of donated land on the Schoodic Peninsula. A large portion of that land is now the Schoodic Woods Campground.
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed HR 1, the Democratic-backed election reform bill that includes an amendment from Maine 2nd District Rep. The floor debate over that amendment Friday triggered a heated exchange between Golden and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) released the following statement on his vote against gun control legislation in the House today:

Washington, D.C. – In a continuation of the Maine Delegation's concerted efforts to remove the unfair and harmful tariff on U.S. lobster exports to China, U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Angus King (I-ME) and Representatives Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Jared Golden (D-ME) wrote to U.S. Trade Representative Robert E. Lighthizer, calling on him to make the lobster industry a priority in the ongoing trade negotiations with the Chinese government.
WASHINGTON — Today, a bill introduced by Congressmen Jared Golden (ME-02) and cosponsored by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01) passed the House of Representatives as part of Senate bill S.47 and will now be sent to the president's desk to be signed into law. Golden and Pingree's legislation helps add iconic coastline to Acadia National Park, allows clammers and wormers to continue to harvest in intertidal zones around the park, and reauthorizes the Acadia National Park Commission.
Federal legislation sponsored by Maine Reps. Jared Golden and Chellie Pingree, both Democrats, will allow clam and worm harvesters to continue to work in intertidal zones around Acadia National Park, and will also allow the park to expand through a 1,400-acre donation on the Schoodic Peninsula.
The House approved the bill Tuesday – it has already been approved by the Senate – and it will now be sent to President Trump's desk to be signed into law, according to a statement issued by Golden's office.
